The Raincoats ST LP UK Orig 1979 A1/B1 Porky Etched On A Side Only Pro Cleaned . On UK Rough Trade Records creamy white with black print paper labels ROUGH 3 . Please see photos for track listings . This one is the first pressing with " A Porky Prime Cut " Etched into the A side run off only , the slightly later reissue had this etched onto both side A and side B run offs .
COVER: Factory single card cover generally in very good overall condition . A very very few mostly extremely light and small general age related / surface / handling marks in places and some light denting , but there are a couple of clusters of dent lines / light scrawls in the centre of the rear cover and a very few other light dent lines also on the rear , though these others are only really seen more at certain angles to the light , there is some light only age related foxing mainly down the spine edge and a very faint bit down the opening edges . The usual but generally light only ring wear marks are present with just some quite light denting from the outer edge of the record . Some normal but light useage / age related wear on the side opening edges with mainly just a bit of light denting in places and some very light feathering , both edges are straight and nice and tight together , there are some usual but mostly very small bits of fraying / rubbing etc on and just near to the corners , but really mainly on the tips , there is a very small dink on each corner right next to the tip , there is nothing really obvious in the way of rubbing etc on the top and bottom edges , there are quite a few often seen crease crack lines in places round the edges but most are just quite small and light only and there are a couple of larger ones caused by the outer edge of the record , the spine is very good and fully legible , there is just a light bit of denting and the odd usual but very small crack line on the spine , the cover is writing free .
INNER SLEEVE: New plain white paper inner sleeve .
LABELS: Creamy white with black print paper labels generally in near excellent condition , still very nice and clean with just a very few usual but very light spindle marks , both labels are writing free.
** Please note that the greyish coloured mark seen in the same place on both S1 and S2 on the close ups of the record playing surfaces in the photos are purely a light reflection / glare and are not marks on the record , thank you ** .
RECORD: The overall visual grade of the playing surface under normal average household light conditions is a very strong between very good and near excellent condition , but i think most would easily say airing a lot closer to the near excellent side overall , but certainly far far better than very good , with just a very very few very light and mostly very small non feelable non sounding surface marks / scuffs ( one very small and very light but more visible smudge type mark , please see the last photo ) , but i'm not actually sure if this could be actually within the vinyl itself ? , there are just a few extremely fine and extremely light mainly just the usual whispy type hairlines and sleeve removals , there are no nasty gouges / nasty scratches whatsoever , i will also say that a lot of these finer hairlines and actually some of the few very light marks are really only more visible when held at certain angles to or under a light . Please note that there maybe the odd tiny dust particle or tiny bit of fluff etc seen on the record in places in the photos off my wiping cloth due to static etc , i can't see them on the record at the time but they sometimes do show up when I take the close up photos , this is also because i do take the photos before i vacuum clean the record , thank you for your understanding . Please see below for audio description .
AUDIO A SIDE: Silent run in has some usual but generally very light noise . It plays pretty much near excellent , beautifully crisp and clear throughout on the music playback with really very little at all in the way of obvious noise that was worthy of mention , i just heard a very very light very very brief " Sch " type noise on the intro and possibly one light tick at the end on T2 , there was just a very faint bit of static type crackle noise on the quieter start on T5 and very briefly in a couple of other quieter places of the track , i think there were a couple of light ticks literally as the music is fading right at the end of the last track and two or three onto the run off , any thing else was just the odd bit of very very faint , occasional only and very very brief bit of noise in the odd quieter place , there was just the very very very occasional very very light isolated pop in places , there was no nasty crackle present , even the silent track changeover lines were quite quiet overall . Silent run off has some usual but generally light noise with the mentioned odd tick . This side on the music really does play and sound fantastic overall and the audio tones are still awesome .
AUDIO B SIDE: Silent run in has some usual but generally very light noise . It also plays near excellent , beautifully crisp and clear throughout on the music playback with really not a great deal in the way of obvious noise that was worthy of mention , i just heard one very very brief "Sch" / tick like type noise on the intro and one light tick near the end on T1 with just a very very faint very occasional bit of vinyl noise in quieter places also on T1 , there was some very faint noise on the intro and i think three very light ticks approx half way through and a bit of very light static type interference in places towards the end on T3 , there was just one tick just after the start on T4 there was no nasty continuous crackle present , anything else would have been extremely brief and very very occasional and very faint indeed , there was just the very very occasional very very light pop in places . Silent run off has some usual but generally quite light noise with the odd tick . This side on the music really does play and sound great overall and the audio tones are still awesome .
** I do hope i haven't made this out to be bad in any way , as it really isn't and it really does still play and sound great , i just try to be thorough with all my descriptions as you know , but can sometimes go a little OTT with the noise etc ** .
There were no jumps etc when tested on my deck and it still retains a very nice shine . Any noises tend to be in short bursts only , are over quickly , are not constant and do not spoil any enjoyment . If any noises are more frequent or louder etc , they will be described separately in the above detailed descriptions thank you .
All in all a nice example of this now very collectable item . I have started this one off at a very keen £29.99p , the extra shown is what Ebay add on for their fees . Thank you very much for your time and interest and happy bidding . Please do read the following ref record gradings explained thank you .
Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times , but displays no major deterioration in sound quality , despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch , some forms of noise will more than likely be heard in places especially on the quieter parts and the odd tick or pop may also be heard in places especially on the quieter parts , but none of this will overpower any of the music in any way , light edge warps etc and some light " dishing " are acceptable but will not affect the play or sound quality at all , any warps that are more prominent will be described in more detail . Please see the descriptions above for the cover condition .
Very Good / Near Excellent: The record has obviously been played but shows no overly excessive play wear . There will be some light only surface marks though most will be just fine hairlines , there will be no major deterioration in sound quality at all though some amount of light noise / occasional light pop may be present in places especially on some of the quieter parts , but none of this will be loud or constant or overpower any of the music , the record will play through perfectly , light edge warps etc and some light " dishing " are acceptable but will not affect the play or sound quality at all , any warps that are more prominent will be described in more detail . Please see the descriptions above for the cover condition .
Near Excellent: The record has obviously been played but shows only light signs of this , a few of the lightest non feelable surface marks being mostly very fine hairlines will be present , but it displays no deterioration in sound quality . Some brief bits of very light noise and very occasional usual light pop maybe present in places and would be acceptable on some quieter parts , but none of this will be loud or constant or overpower any of the music , light edge warps etc and some light " dishing " are acceptable but will not affect the play or sound quality at all , any warps that are more prominent will be described in more detail . Please see the descriptions above for the cover condition .
Excellent : The record shows some signs of having been played , but there is very little lessening in sound quality , light edge warps etc and some light " dishing " are acceptable but will not affect the play or sound quality at all , any warps that are more prominent will be described in more detail. Please see the descriptions above for the cover condition .
