Description

An original '59 Stereo 1st press on Columbia 6 Eye - heck that has got to be worth a squizz! Matrix 1B/1B. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original paste-over STEREO 1st issue cover.
Vinyl (Ex) Ok, if great audio is an absolute must then take a close look at this one. In excellent condition with a couple of very superficial markings per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with two slightest deviations. Do all '59 Stereo six-eye's sound this clean - hell....I seriously doubt it. This copy is tremendously well preserved and all in glorious original stereo. In '59 stereo was brand new on the market and the record companies were trying their hardest to impress on the audio front. And I can assure you a recording like this is in stereo is absolutely top draw. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Percussion sounds like it's in the same room as you. Reed instruments totally clean signalled. Not sure you're ever gonna find better. It is impeccable. Jazz recods are hard enough to find playing clean, but a '59 stereo original is like...wow. Could not be bettered. All I could make out was a couple of crackles in a coupe of isolated spots per side. And one solitary minor tick late on side 1 & another early side 2. Very highly recommended.
Cover (Vg+) For original USA stock this one is looking pretty dandy. My only complaint is a small surface tear bottom right on the rear. Surfaces are looking very nice and clean and unaged - particularly for the vintage. Expect a touch of light wear on edges - but much less than you typically find. Firm openings. Text on the spine fully legible - just slight wear in the odd spot [very tidy]. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
