Description

An original 1st press of Aftermath on the UK Decca label. Matrix 5A/1B. Please note the label design is consistent with very 1st pressing - the band's names are in small font. They were supersized on later pressings! Also, note that the labels exhibit the Decca deep groove - this must be apparent for it to be a true 1st issue. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Robert Stace mono cover with pinched spine. Also included is an original Decca sleeve from the time. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg+) [S2/S1] In very nice condition and has seen only relatively light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side, and a couple of small semi-feelable marks which do sound [seed details below]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Sweet audio when it's on song and not too much to complain at. 'Lady Jane' is the test track and it plays pretty well with just a touch of low-level static - as is common. The deviations are... "Mother's Little Helper" has a couple of clicks toward the end of the song and a pop in the gap between Tr1+Tr2 [best place to have one!]. Then, we got 5-6 clicks midway through 'Under My Thumb' caused by the mark mentioned above. And just a touch of distortion creeping into the audio in the track 'Waiting' - just sporadically & not really invasive or persistent. If you can live with these relatively short lived issues - the delivery of the remainder of the LP will more than make up for it.
Cover (Ex) Well, I can honestly say that Aftermath doesn't often surface looking this good. Usually the front is heavily creased with laminate lift in addition. But this example is shiny and looking not far off new - totally flat. There's a couple of minuscule thumbnail creases - and that's your lot! The rear seems to have pretty much totally avoid the ageing process - which is quite unusual. Edge wear is very light for this title and the openings are still sharp. The spine is 100% intact and overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg) A bit of ageing and no splits or markings.
