The Rolling Stones - Aftermath LP LK 4786 (Decca, UK, 1966)
Early UK Issue in semi laminated Robert Stace sleeve. Unboxed Red Decca Deep Groove Labels. Mono. 6B/3A matrices.
Condition (I Grade NM / EX / VG+ / VG / VG- / G / F)
Sleeve - VG- Tear to the front right, leaving an abrasion on Brian's face. Generally, the laminate is pretty firm. Fraying along sleeve opening, particularly along the back. Back has discoloured and has musty brown marks, but there's nowt obscuring the text. Spine creased in places but the rubric is still pretty clear - though the 'L' in the catalogue number is affected by a crease.
Vinyl - VG Like the other Stones LPs I've listed this copy has been played quite a lot and has marks to show it, but this one is a mark above the others - the scratches and marks being a bit more localised as opposed to evenly spread - and there's less groovewear. Soundwise it's better too - audio is pretty clear (particularly if you use a Y cable for true mono sound) with not much distortion at all, but with some light surface noise throughout. There's no hardly any clicks or anything like a skip or a jump.
Who Wants This? A lot of copies of Aftermath turn up very tatty and played to death. This one is better than most, not top collector condition, but sonically it still smokes and is relatively good looking. If (like me) you like vintage pressings of vintage albums, are on a budget, and are after a decent copy to enjoy listening to as opposed to a pristine one to file away - this is a good option.

- I remove records from their outer sleeves to avoid splitting. All records are packed in a plastic sleeve for extra protection.
