Description
An original 1st issue of BIG HITS on the UK Decca label. Matrix 1A/3A - very 1st cut. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Mono gatefold cover - not a peephole version like the later copies . Also included is the original Decca inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) Lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Please note there are a couple of feelable marks on side 1 - but fear not, thanks to this very heavy set mono pressing, we're actually struggling to make out much effect at all. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. Do bear in mind that so so many of these greatest hits lps have been played to death over the years. Finding a proper fresh low-mileage copy is not that easy. But when you do boy do they sound good - all in MONO. Intros and inbetweens are very very quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Interference is both minor and infrequent. I couldn't detect more than a few crackles in a couple of isolated spots. The only slight deviation is in 'Paint It Black' - one of the marks above causes a couple of very light ticks...you have to strain/concentrate even to make them out. So, by and large this is a beautiful clean rendition and way better than the average copy that tends to surface.
Cover (Ex) Again, this title nearly always exhibits problems - but this example is WAY above the copies that usually surface. Lovely clean front with just a couple of thumbnail creases. The rear is equally good - just flat, clean, shiny, and without creasing. The interior looks great too. All pages are still stapled in fine and intact. They are not heavily thumbed - I could only pick out one tiny nick. Edge wear is light and the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and lies nice and flat. Nice!
Inner (Vg+) No splits - just some light ageing.
