Description

An original 2nd issue of No.2 on the UK Decca label from 1967. Matrix 1/2. Stampers 1-HB/1-UU. Please note label design is consistent with a 1966-67 copy - and still shows that all important deep groove. Whilst many seek the earlier 'Blind man' text version it is actually this copy from a year later which is way way harder to find. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Robert Stace cover with the 2nd issue text. The 'blind man' text on the rear has, by now, been watered down to a more palatable version. Also included is the original Decca company inner sleeve. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex+) In fantastic condition and has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks - but nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. These early Decca copies often sound quite impressive, but this one really is so low-mileage and clean that audio quality is absolutely knock-out! There's great transparency and barely a whisper of interference even in quiet sections. All we could detect was a couple of crackles [literally] in a couple of isolated moments - i.e. practically nothing. This is a truly impressive rendition and most definitely a keeper!
Cover (Ex-) Ok, these early Stones covers by Robert Stace are just THE most difficult thing to find anything approaching good condition. But this one really defies the odds by looking superb and way way above most that surface. Lovely shiny front with only a couple of creases and a touch of ageing at the opening edge. The rear has escaped much of the usual ageing process - there's just a touch showing at the extremities. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains much of the original rigidity and lies totally flat. A very nice original copy and one it would be difficult to improve on.
