Description
Released 50 years ago today.....The Rolling Stones' 'Sticky Fingers' is rightly considered one of the greatest rock albums of all time. From the brilliant ("functioning") cover art, to the superb and memorable songs....this album had it all. It is easily one of the group's top 3 best studio albums....and worldwide sales (triple platinum certification) confirm this fact.
On offer....a very 1st Canadian pressing from April 1971. Not an easy pressing to come by in any condition....but this one is better than most that are found. First pressings had "Warner Bros. Records of Canada" printed around both labels. Later pressings had 'WEA' as the manufacturer and were pressed on much thinner vinyl with correspondingly "thinner" sound.
To be fully enjoyed, this is an album that should be played LOUD. Though the original recording has always been considered somewhat uneven, the songs that really "rock" are all consistent, meaning, they all sound great. If you like deep bass and good mid-range, then this pressing is for you.
Cover: Excellent.....solidly constructed with decent card stock, near-perfect spine, The zipper, though intact, does not go up and down. I did not attempt to force it either way. The inside reveals a man in his underwear (see photo) with credits assigned to artist/designer Andy Warhol. A very nice example and rarely found in better condition.
Record: VG +/- ......the thick and heavy vinyl does reveal some hairlines and scuffs under bright lights. However, due to the excellent pressing most of the imperfections in the audio are not too bothersome. Both labels are bright and devoid of heavy marks and stains. Some spindle marks can be seen but nothing compared to other copies I've come across. Remember, this is not a near mint example but when played on a decent turntable it will still deliver that great "vintage" sound.
