Original 1st US pressing promotional copy of The Rolling Stones 3rd US studio album “The Rolling Stones, Now!” released on February 13, 1965. The currently listed copy is an example of the very rare 1st issue which is commonly called “export” as it was pressed by the DECCA Record Co. Ltd. plant in the UK. 1st print cover with two columns of the uncensored liner notes by Andrew Loog Oldham on the back of the same length, the later pressing was censored and therefore, the right column of the liner notes is shorter than the left one as the sentences "This is THE STONES new disc within. Cast deep in your pockets for loot to buy this disc of groovies and fancy words. If you don't have bread, see that blind man knock him on the head, steal his wallet and low and behold you have the loot, if you put in the boot, good, another one sold!" were removed. The back cover also contains a misprint mentioning Ian Stewart playing organ on "Time Is On My Side", but the track is missing on the record. The front cover contains the original promotional "featuring HEART OF STONE and LITTLE RED ROOSTER" white hype sticker and a ”Promotional Copy Not For Sale” promo sticker. Original “Made in England by the DECCA Record Co. Ltd” 1st print 2.75” deep groove dark red LL.3420 labels with the “London FFRR Ear” logo and “Full Frequency Range Recording” banner, and no album title. The very 1st -1K / -1K matrix numbers of this copy are come directly from the master lacquer disc made by DECCA Studios in West Hampstead, London, UK where the “K” at the end of the matrix numbers serves not as the letter of the alphabet, but the identifier of the mastering engineer Anthony Hawkins from DECCA Studios, London which can be found only on the very 1st pressing. This guarantees the best playback sound possible as the pressings made from the copies of the master tapes shipped by DECCA to the US very often have an inferior sound. The full 1st matrix numbers of this copy are as follows: Side 1 – XARL-6691-1K 1DG KT: Side 2 – XARL – 6692-1K 1DK KT. This promotional copy comes with the original London Records white poly-lined inner sleeve containing the “London FFRR Ear” logo.

★

The cover is graded as Excellent. It's very clean and doesn't have any splits, writing, soiling, residue or tears. The front cover doesn't have any age shelf wear or ring wear, perhaps just a barely noticeable hint of it at the bottom. The back cover has some very light age shelf wear as well as some very light discoloration in a couple of places along the mouth. The rigid spine contains a fully readable text. The original London Records poly-lined inner sleeve is in Near Mint Minus condition and doesn't have any splits or tears. We grade the vinyl as Excellent Minus for Side 1 and Very Good Plus for Side 2. It retains its shiny factory lacquer only having a few very light non-feelable surface marks and scuffs, more of which are present on Side 2. The labels are very clean and graded as Excellent Minus, scuff- and wear-free, only having a few light spindle marks visible under a strong light. The vinyl plays great having a soft and warm sound  perhaps only having a very light occasional static which most likely would go away if the record was professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
