Up for sale is a genuine US Original 1st Pressing of the monumental 1986 Synth-Funk / R&B masterpiece "Sands Of Time" by The S.O.S. Band, released on the iconic cream Tabu Records label (Cat# Z 40279).
Produced, arranged, and commanded almost entirely by the visionary hitmaking duo Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, this spectacular fifth studio album is widely considered a high-water mark of mid-80s electronic soul. It features the massive global dancefloor smash "The Finest" (6:09) (referenced from DSC09296.jpg), the heavy electro-funk groover "Borrowed Love" (5:26), and the sublime, synth-drenched tracks "No Lies" and "Even When You Sleep" (referenced from DSC09298.jpg). This is also the final historic album to feature original lead vocalist Mary Davis before her departure.
A true audiophile-grade early press, the deadwax features the authentic hand-etched matrix codes alongside the legendary "Flower" etching, the personal mastering signature of the wizard Brian Gardner (Big Bass Brian) at Bernie Grundman Mastering. High-quality pressing from Columbia's family plant in Carrollton, Georgia (indicated by the stamped "G" logo in runouts). Comes housed in its original gorgeous desert-themed picture sleeve with the custom inner sleeve.

Vinyl Condition: VG+ (Very Good Plus). Beautiful glossy vinyl record retaining a brilliant original factory luster. Under strict direct light, it shows only a few minor, faint paper sleeve scuffs and superficial cosmetic hairlines that do not affect playback. The cream Tabu labels are exceptionally clean, bright, and completely free of any writing, stamps, or stickers (as seen in DSC09296.jpg and DSC09298.jpg). Spindle hole shows minimal wear. Plays with immense analog power, thunderous TR-808 bass, and crystal-clear vocals.

Cover Condition: VG (Very Good). Solid and sturdy vintage cardboard jacket with crisp, vibrant front artwork (referenced from DSC09295.jpg). Shows honest shelf and edge wear, light rubbing along the seams, and typical minor corner wear consistent with age. Reverse side shows a few light handling scuffs (referenced from DSC09297.jpg). Spine remains fully intact and legible. No heavy seam splits, no marker graffiti, and no cutout marks. Original company inner sleeve is intact.
