Description
The Sabras "Jerusalem of Gold"; catalog #: T122; Label: Tikva Records (New York City)
This fantastic group is made up of three Israeli-born musicians who moved to the U.S. in the 1950's and 1960's. As the liner notes state, the lead guitar player, Bezalel Jungreis, led a the first "Twist group" in Israel called "The Echos". In the states they teamed up with American Jeff Smoley to create this great LP of Rock & Roll, Folk, Garage, Surf and Psych tunes sung in Israeli and English. All tracks have that cool Eastern feel.
This same LP is featured in one of Hans Pokora's Record Collector's Dreams books and is very very RARE!!
The song listing on the back cover shows the titles in Israeli while the label lists them in English.Tracks as they appear on the labels include: SIDE 1: "Jerusalem of Gold", "Eastmen", "The Lonely Tree", "O Little Girl", "Cuando Cliente", "American-Israeli Boogie Woogie". SIDE 2: "Israeli Medley", "Evening of the Roses", "Amrita Sallah", "The Wanderer", Falafel", "La Bamba"
Produced by Allen B. Jacobs
The disc has been play graded at Near Mint with only very minor flaws. The next to the last song on side two has some clicking for a few revelutions but nothing that is too distracting. Other than that there is a great luster and is very flat. Plays and sounds great.
The cover is very appealing and in great Near Mint condition with only minor flaws (corners slightly dinged).
