Up for auction is a very rare 1969 first pressing album COVER for the Shaggs "Philosophy Of The World". This is the original cover as released by Third World Recordings, Boston Mass. This is not the reissue released later on Rounder Records.

From research on the web, only 100 of the original recording are known to have been released.

From Wikipedia . . ."the man who had promised to press 1,000 copies of Philosophy of the World reportedly absconded with 900 of them. The rest were circulated to New England radio stations but attracted little attention, and the girls' dreams of superstardom were dashed."

Although I am not a collector and able to grade in the truest sense, I would describe this album cover as excellent. The color is good and the greenish cast agrees well with all of the other examples I have seen online. There is no warping of the cover, no water damage, no splits in the seams. No cuts or holes or non original writing or other ink or pencil marks on the cover. The corners are also in excellent condition, with the top right corner slightly less so. The only visible wear I can possibly see is from this album having been stacked with other albums for so long. There are no scuffs.

There is a plain paper sleeve inside. I don't know if it is original to the album or not.
