Description
Incredibly rare slice of 1969 progressive krautrock, issued in Germany albeit by The Shiver, a progressive psychedelic band who were actually from Switzerland.
This doomy, gothy piece of progressive rock was years ahead of its time and copies are VERY hard to find, particularly with the original sleeve.
And the sleeve is rather special, being an early artwork from the 'man as machine' Swiss artist HR Giger, who also designed the sleeve for their similarly rare LP Walpurgis, and went on to design sleeves for a stack of rock bands including ELP's Brain Salad Surgery. He was also part of the special effects team that won an Academy Award for the visual design of Ridley Scott's 1979 sci-fi horror film Alien.
Even better news is that the vinyl is in pristine condition – looks barely played – and the flimsy paper sleeve is similarly excellent with just a touch of feathering at the top opening edge and a little edge wear. I have put the vinyl in a new poly lined black sleeve.
The gold and black Maris Musik labels are also in pristine shape.
This is a very rare and collectable record. I'm starting it at just 99p so we'll see where it goes, though there is a reserve.
