Original 1996 UK/European numbered 3LP vinyl edition of The Smashing Pumpkins' classic album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.
A highly collectible edition of this iconic album, featuring the original distinctive artwork and numbered sleeve, with No. 3956 printed on the front.
The vinyl to the best of my recollection has never been played as I didn't own a player at that time, and has been kept in the original Our Price carrier bag for years. The sleeve is generally clean, although there are some cosmetic marks ( look at top right front photo) and a distinctive horizontal line visible across areas of the front and back cover. Sleeve and horizontal line ( as seen on photos )
One unusual feature of this copy is a horizontal line visible across parts of the front and back sleeve. The line appears to be part of the surface or finish, as it cannot readily be felt by touch.
I have been researching this feature and have come across collector discussions suggesting that the lines may be associated with early numbered copies.

Where it appears: A distinct horizontal line/stripe stretches straight across the front jacket and continues straight across the rear jacket.

Front Cover: Looking closely at the right-hand side of the front cover image, you can clearly see the distinct, straight horizontal line cutting cleanly through the deep orange star tip next to the woman's arm.

Back Cover: On the rear sleeve, the exact same factory print line is visible running horizontally through the upper section of the image, slicing directly across the middle of the "sun-face" illustration.

Which copies have it: This printing/manufacturing flaw predominantly affects the first pressing run (numbered copies lower than 5,000, and early serial numbers in general) from 1996.
