Description
The Smiths - German multi-coloured vinyl promo for the first album
Number 302.
Listed in the November 1992 issue of "Record Collector" magazine as the second most rare Smiths release! It hasn't got any more common since, you know!
I have owned this record since early 1984, and to the best of my knowledge it has never been played. It has always been kept in a protective plastic sleeve in a record box, so it is as clean and lovely as the day I bought it.
I have been a huge fan of The Smiths and Morrissey since 1983, and contributed to a number of Smiths fanzines, including every issue of the redoubtable "Smiths Indeed". Please understand how much it is hurting me to part with this item....
The "Passionsjustlikemine" website (one of the best for info on the band) have this to say: -
- Germany: Rough Trade Deutschland took special care in promoting the Smiths' debut album over their territory by printing a limited (400 to 500) and numbered LP on multicoloured vinyl (RTD25). The record was usually slipped inside a generic die cut sleeve showing the label, on which the series number sticker was applied. It must be said that some copies were distributed inside the stock sleeve. The record usually came with a one-page or a three-page press release. Some copies included 2 promo postcards.
Please note that this copy comes in a stock sleeve, and that it did not come with the promo inserts or postcards.
