Description
Hello, and thank you for viewing. I am selling German Import The Smiths' 12" Single BARBARISM BEGINS AT HOME on vinyl.
I am not a record dealer, and have found describing the condition of these items almost as tricky as bringing myself to sell them. So, I figured the best way was to *ahem* borrow a very well known grading system, which is towards the bottom of this listing, and go by that as best I can, while adding personal comments. I am not trying to hide anything, or deceive anyone. My avid defence of 100% positive feedback leads me to be overly honest about my auctions as a rule, and you are welcome to message me with any other points of clarification you might need. One thing I can assure you is that they are the definite article. I don't deal in fakes, dubious copies or claim the items to be anything other than they are.

BARBARISM BEGINS AT HOME - The Smiths
THE SMITHS Barbarism Begins At Home (Rare deleted 1985 German Rough Trade label issue 3-track double A sided 12" vinyl single, also including Shakespeare's Sister and Stretch Out And Wait. Housed in a yellow tinted sleeve featuring Viv Nicholson at the pithead, taken from her 1977 book 'Spend Spend Spend'.

Condition
Outer Sleeve - VG/G. Hardly any creases, and no fraying. One tiny tear on the reverse at the opening. Shows signs of aging at the opening.
Inner Sleeve - EX. Minor creases. No rips.
Disc - EX/VG. Disc was very lightly played back in the day and there are only 1 or 2 signs of use. A few finger marks mean it could do with a clean, but I'll leave that to folk who know what to put on it!
MINT (M): The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
Packaging
Obviously buyers will want to know that their purchase will stand up to the journey to their home. I will be covering both sides of the item with 14" x 14" cardboard, wrapping at least four times over in bubble wrap and then in strong brown paper. Or I will be using purpose built boxes to ship in. Either way I am confident that this will ensure the item is secure over any distance.

Disclaimer
In the past I have received 1 or 2 adverse comments regarding some items smelling of smoke. I have never advertised my items as being from a smoke-free enviroment but I understand people's concerns, which is why I'm putting this paragraph in all my listings. I have taken steps to diminish this problem - introducing a quicker turnaround of items, utilising a smoke-free room for storage of my stock & packaging and increasing my household maintainance - but there will still be the chance of smoke residue. This will mainly affect items that have been in my possession for a long time - my new stock shouldn't be a problem - and please feel free to question me if you have any issues or doubts. If these doubts still affect you, you have a major issue with smoke or you live in a plastic bubble it would probably be better if you didn't bid. I hate to write that, as an avid eBayer, but I have strived to be, and intend to remain, a 100% honest trader on these pages. At least I don't have any pets - not since I got rid of the Beagles. Their coughing was driving me crazy! ;-)
