The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

Part of the appeal of collecting original pressings of The Smiths' singles from around the world is the presence of the many and, often subtle, differences in both the record labels and sleeves. Of all the releases which are available from different countries, original Australian pressings are often among the most collectable owing to the visual appeal of the striking red and green design 'male silhouette' labels, which usually feature, together with the limited numbers in which they were apparently produced judging by their lack of availability on the market. This auction is for the original 1987 CBS pressing of 'Girlfriend In A Coma', which incorporates the aforementioned 'silhouette' red/green record labels and the 'shattered' Rough Trade logo. The rear of the outer sleeve carries the CBS catalogue number at the top, in place of the more familiar 'RTT 197' identification with barcode, and there are different 'Made and distributed in Australia under licence' credits at the bottom. In addition, there is text indicating that the single was taken from the 'Strangeways, Here We Come' album underneath the leading track name (see photo). The spine of the outer sleeve also has the track and catalogue details, unlike the UK version which is blank. 'Girlfriend In A Coma' was issued in the 12" format in only three countries outside of the UK, the other two being Greece and Spain. Don't miss this rare opportunity to obtain one of these highly sought-after Australian original pressings, which has been preserved in exceptional condition (see below).The vinyl and labels are in tremendous near mint condition, being apparently unplayed and having barely even any 'hairline' superficial surface marks on the highly-glossy vinyl and no marks at all on the labels. The original anti-static round-bottom inner sleeve is present and intact, and the superb outer sleeve is in at least strong excellent condition with no discernable creases and practically no corner or edge-wear at all. The sleeve remains flat and retains its original 'sheen' when held to the light and looks very impressive indeed; a superb example of this first class rarity. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.
