The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

When collecting original 1980s pressings of The Smiths' singles from around the world, the subtle differences in both the record labels and sleeves add an interesting dimension to their appeal. Of the original releases from different countries, these Australian first-pressings are among the most sought-after owing to the visual appeal of the striking red and green design 'male silhouette' labels, which usually feature, together with the limited numbers in which they were apparently produced. This auction is for the original 1987 CBS pressing of 'Sheila Take A Bow', which incorporates the aforementioned 'silhouette' red/green record labels and the 'shattered' Rough Trade logo. The rear of the outer sleeve has the CBS catalogue number at the top, in place of the more familiar 'RTT 196' identification, and there are different licensing credits at the bottom (see photo). The spine of the outer sleeve also has the track and catalogue details, unlike the UK version which is blank. The front artwork is printed in a slightly lighter shade of 'pink' than the UK version, the latter appearing slightly 'redder' when the two sleeves are held side by side. Don't miss this opportunity to get hold of one of these highly collectable Australian original pressings, which has been preserved in truly superb condition (see below).

The vinyl and labels are in tremendous near mint condition, having been barely played, if at all, and having scarcely even any 'hairline' superficial surface marks on the highly-glossy vinyl and no marks on the labels. The original anti-static round-bottom inner sleeve is present and intact, and the outer sleeve is in at least strong excellent condition with no discernable creases; there is no visible edge-wear (and no seam-splitting) and practically no 'corner wear' at all. The sleeve remains flat and retains its original 'sheen' when held to the light and looks very impressive indeed; a superb example of this rarity. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.
