Description
The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

Although 'Barbarism Begins At Home' was never released as a single (beyond demonstration stage) on vinyl in the UK, it was pressed for release in Germany (7" and 12") and Italy (7" only). This is the 12" version of the German release and is now becoming extremely rare, being one of the earlier releases in 1985 with many copies no doubt being played and discarded before the Smiths became truly collectable. The sleeve artwork consists of the sought-after iconic yellow and black Morrissey-designed Viv Nicholson sleeve and the B-sides are 'Shakespeare's Sister' and 'Stretch Out And Wait'. This is a release which is highly-prized amongst collectors, primarily for the rare sleeve artwork in this 12" format. It was listed in Record Collector's 2005 Smiths Top 100 list at Number 88, which is relatively unusual for a standard single release. This is an opportunity to get hold of a genuinely collectable Smiths record.The vinyl and labels are in superb near mint condition, appearing unplayed and having only the lightest of 'hairline' superficial surface marks in a few places on the highly-glossy vinyl. The rare outer sleeve is in excellent condition, and would be graded more highly but for a small region towards the top right of the sleeve where a sticker has clearly been removed and the surface has been broken. There is consequently a very small patch of white (see photos) which is not highly visible and does not overly spoil the appearance of the sleeve. Otherwise, there are no creases or marks or major signs of wear. The spine and edges are sharp, and there is just some mild 'rubbing' to the corners and edges in places. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.
