Description
The Soft Machine (also titled Volume One as a reissue) is the band’s debut album, released in 1968 - the only album to feature Kevin Ayres.
The album initially saw release only in the USA and France where it made almost no impact, although retrospective critical appraisals have been largely positive. The original artwork featured a circular die-cut in the sleeve, revealing a rotating wheel card insert with gears through which the band members could be viewed underneath. The gatefold and back sleeve also featured the uncensored image of a nude girl's backside.
Cover ‘good’ see photos, note - some damage to top edge with a small hole in the cover and a previous owner stamp.
The LP is also just ‘good’ - there is a scratch on Side 1 Track 1 which ‘clicks’ but other than that, no scratches but there is some light background/ surface noise/minor crackling throughout. There are also a couple of surface marks which don’t result in any ‘clicks’.
Price reflects the ‘good’ assessment of the LP.
