Please doYou’ve probably never seen this. There are no pictures online. This has never been posted on fan groups.
This is the first proposed cover created by “Shoot that tiger” the company that created the artwork and graphics for many of the Stranglers releases.
Here for sale, for the first time the original, rejected, sleeve design.
Without doubt The Stranglers most successful single release. It’s become infamous for it’s meaning. An important part of the bands journey, showcasing the awesome talent of Mr Dave Greenfield. RIP.
This is one of only 2 known. The other resides in Ireland!
I have no idea why this cover was rejected over the eventual release! They are both minimal to say the least, but this one is still minimal, but bolder, to me it’s a stunner. Perhaps the cost of the gold paint was prohibitive. Little did they know how successful this release was, is.
The rear is amazing, much more graphically satisfying than stock release.
Condition is excellent. As you would expect having never had a record in it. On the rear in the Gold area, there are some barely noticeable finger marks. Does not detract. This really is full on metallic gold ink and easily marked.
It was once folded, not heavily. I has been kept unfolded and flat for many years and the light crease does not detract at all from the piece.

I acquired this from a collector in Ireland. It was part of a swop deal that we did, exchanging Stranglers acetates and other rare Stranglers pieces. The UK Snow Country Proof sleeve, that is also for sale as part of my current eBay sale, was a part of that deal.
Before me, the collector in Ireland bought, at an auction, several pieces of rejected artwork by the graphic design company “Shoot that tiger”.
One of these pieces was the original art work for this sleeve. In the folder for the artwork, were 2 finished, printed sleeves. The one you see here for sale, and the other is still in Ireland.
