Starting off 2024 with a few signed items. At times over the years I got stuff signed, Hugh when solo, JJ on the 3 Men & Black Tour and at conventions. These days we would use our mobiles to capture provenance of signing but in the 80/90s that wasn't possible or even thought of. It was just about getting your treasured items signed by the band you loved.
This Fire & Water album came into my possession sometime around 1996. Connected to the Internet on dial-up I bought a lot of bootlegs, promos and various memorabilia from a Scottish couple that had a massive Stranglers collection. They were well connected with the band and we became email friends. I even got a pair of JJ's DM boots from them just paying the postage. Didn't keep them long though - they stunk out my understairs cupboard!
This album came from this couple who were ardent fans and genuine people. They got the sleeve cover signed by JJ and Dave in 1984. That provenance was and is good enough for me. To further qualify them as serious collectors of Stranglers memorabilia the album they had was a demonstration LP as stamped.
Sleeve signed by Dave on front and JJ on both front and back. Best of luck if you decide to bid.
