Description
The Record of Salford London Berlin and New York
On October 19th 2007 at Salford Islington Mill The Ting Tings held the first of 4 gigs which also incorporated a live art event.
Fans were invited to add their own design to a large canvas, which was subsequently split into 100 7" sleeves.
The artwork from Salford was sent to Berlin and packaged around the 100 7"s of Fruit Machine that were sold there, at a Club West Germany gig on October 27th. A similar collaborative art event was held in Berlin, with the results going to fans at the London Electrowerkz show on November 7th; the London art went to New York for the Glasslands gig on November 13th, and finally the original Salford fans received their sleeves from the creators in NY. The making of the sleeves was also filmed and then shown in real time at each consecutive venue.
Every sleeve had a label stuck on the back stating the position (row/column) on the artwork the sleeve came from and which gig the artwork came from.
