The Trip- Time of Change/ Trident#1002 c.1973/Originale Italiana!!
Once again, I bless the opportunity to be able to offer this AMAZING masterpiece from my long-time favorites "The Trip". The record was recorded pretty much "live" in the studio with very little overdubs or enhancements. That is what I reflect most on when I listen to the Italian prog. of the day.
Whether it was this trio, Orme, the more complex "orchestrals' of Opus Avantra or Banco del Mutuo Soccorso,Osanna, the list goes on and on.. there always seemed a very definite "sense of purpose" and thematics in the music. The classical influence is very prevalent on this album both in instrumentation and presentation with church organ and real "grosso" chimes courtesy of a young Furio Chirico, also arguably the fastest drummer on the planet! (you HAVE TO hear his work in Arti & Mestieri). Very eloquent and powerful English vocals from Switzerlander Wegg Andersen.
The record itself is VG+ there is a very small amount of surface noise here and there (as usual more noticeable on quieter passages, still a very rewarding listen, though) I will say cover is EX, a beautiful gatefold with only the slightest amount of shelf wear. Hardcore fans of this genre should try to snap this one up, I don't see any others for sale(originals,that is) anywhere (even in Italia!!)
