What is this copy:

1983 Verve / Nippon Polydor's 1st issue of awesome and gorgeous compilation of Verve rare tracks. This 4LP box was released only in Japan as far as I know.

What's inside this LP:

In the 1970s and 1980s, Nippon Polydor released a number of Verve LP reissues under the name of “Verve Masterpiece Series”. However, it was also true that there were so many “unreleased” tracks not included in the LP reissue series. Then, Yu Okamura (a famous vinyl collector and jazz critic in Japan), who was working at Jazz division of Nippon Polydor at the time, planned this gorgeous box.

This de luxe 4 LP box features previously-unreleased track (Stan Getz's “Split Kick”), scarce tracks which were previously available only on 78rpms, 45rpm EPs and 10-inch LPs. This box was really a great gift for Verve fans.

Cover (Box): VG+++.
This gold-coloured box is in really excellent condition with no splits and major wears. There are minor scuffs and minor wears on the back side.
Nice drawing on the front cover is by David Stone Martin.

Disc: NM-.
All three discs are in very beautiful condition. Plays very clean.

Paper insert: NM- (6-page booklet).
6 page booklet has liner-notes (in Japanese), as well as detailed session data on every track (in English).

OBI (a paper strap which is common in Japanese releases): NM-.
