Description
The classic original Velvet Underground and Nico LP. This is the Mono version. Verve V-5008. The great Lou Reed with John Cale, Sterling Morrison, Maureen Tucker and Nico. This is a very early original which still has the upside down image of an actor, Eric Emerson, on the background behind the band. Emerson threatened to sue because he had not authorized the use of his image unless he was paid. Rather than paying him, the record company recalled the album and halted distribution until the image of the actor could be airbrushed from the photo. This is filled with classics and stands as one of the greatest and most influential albums in rock history. Songs include Sunday Morning, I'm Waiting For The Man, Femme Fatale, Venus In Furs, Run Run Run, All Tomorrow's Parties, Heroin, There She Goes Again, I'll Be Your Mirror, The Black Angel's Death Song, European Son. The vinyl has surface scratching and there is a hiss and some pops when it plays. It isn't too noticable on the louder songs but you will hear it during the softer ballads and between songs. There may be a few skips. The gatefold jacket has rub marks and the seams have been reinforced with clear tape in some places. The seams are worn in spots also and there is a staple mark in the upper left of the banana side.
