Description
For a pretty thorough description of this 7th John Fahey album I recommend you read the Wikipedia entry for it: "The Voice of the Turtle (album)". "... "it is considered to be one of his more experimental albums, combining not only folk elements, but shreds of psychedelia, early blues, country fiddles, ragas, and white noise." - from the Wiki article. The vinyl looks near mint. I did however spot a tiny short scratch at the end of the second cut of side 2 which ticks lightly a few times. More bothersome would be the noise heard on the first part of the first track of side two ("A Raga Called Pat, Part IV") I see nothing on the record so it might well be a manufacturing defect I honestly don't know. The track has a considerable passage of low amplitude material and you hear like a low level hiss at a point in each revolution continuing through more than half of the track. I don't want to make too much of it but since this is a pretty rare record, I don't want anyone complaining that I didn't state this in the listing. So I'm going to give the vinyl a VG+/EX grade and the same with the gatefold jacket with an extensive booklet. This is is very conservative for both. It's actually a very nice copy.
