Description
Autographed by the last living member of the Original Wailers. The Wailers (Tacoma WA) "Doin' The Seaside" /"Stompin' Willie" Etiquette 4 WLP 1962. Record has some light surface scratches but plays and sounds great. Labels have ring wear and ink.
Here is a story on The Wailers and how this song came to be: On Saturday, September 1, 1962 during the Labor Day weekend, thousands of unruly teenagers would roam the streets in the resort town of Seaside, Oregon. As it turns out, The Wailers were to appear at The Bungalow (or roller rink) that evening, but the show was cancelled. The Seaside riots (as they came to be called) continued on into the next day. It was decided that The Wailers would play on the roof of the Turnaround Building to divert the attention of the throngs of teens. So on Sunday afternoon, The Wailers would perform one of the most historic concerts in Northwest history. They had a new record without a title, so "Doin' The Seaside" came to be.
