Remastered from original source material under the watchful eye of one David Gedge this re-issue contains the original Bizarro album and the two accompanying EP’S Kennedy and Brassneck.
Pressed on 10inch vinyl the three discs are package in a 10inch box with newly design sleeves and inner bags, that respectfully retain the heritage of the original design with brand new sleeves notes by journalist Mike Gayle.
‘Bizarro’ was the bands first proper album for RCA. They had signed to the label and earlier that year (1989) has released the trio of Ukrainian John Peel Sessions they had recorded for the BBC. So this was the follow up to that historic debut album ‘George Best’.
The album was produced by the same production team led by Chris Allinson, as was the ‘Kennedy EP, but the Brassneck EP was the start of a long relationship David l Gedge would have with Steve Albini.
KENNEDY is the same version as on the LP. All the B-sides UNFAITHFUL, ONE DAY THIS WILL ALL BE YOURS and a cover version of the Tom Jones classic IT’S NOT UNUSUAL were all recorded at the same time as Bizarro.
All four Brassneck EP tracks were recorded by Steve Albini after the release of the LP - i.e. we re-recorded the ‘BRASSNECK’ song for this single plus DON’T TALK JUST KISS, GONE and BOX ELDER.
Finally, a few years ago David unearthed a demo version of ‘Be Honest’ for a Camden Deluxe Wedding Present compilation called ‘Ye Ye - The Best Of The RCA Years’. ‘Be Honest’ was a ‘normal’ WP song right up until the ‘Bizarro’ recording where, at the last minute, it was decided to change to an ‘acoustic/unplugged’ arrangement. As the demo was the original electric version, this’ll be the first ever vinyl release of ‘Be Honest [Demo Version]’.
