Here’s a beauty! An original UK pressing from 2003 of Elephant by The White Stripes. Since it’s the 2003 pressing it’s in the original ‘blotter paper’ style sleeve that according to Jack White is recycled elephant dung… but that’s Jack White talking to the media, so it might just be a lovely textured sleeve.

I bought this gem in Croydon on the day of release and it was played maybe twice in total as those were the days of buying important releases on CD for day to day and on vinyl for special occasions.

I have marked the sleeve and vinyl as VG+. Please note that this is a very good VG+ and I would have marked this as Ex were it not for some run-in groove noise on side B and some tiny static-y pops in the run-in on side A. Sides 3 and D are immaculate. I was confused by why noise was only on one disc and remained even after using a professional cleaning fluid and a Japanese roller and having been played so rarely. I did some research and it looks like some very early pressings were a little noisy on the run-ins… but I can assure you that once Seven Nation Army or I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself kicks off on vinyl with huge bass response and a massive soundstage, 3 seconds of static is easily forgotten.

The package has been in a non-PVC protective outer for about 15 years and the records have been in high quality inners for about 10 years. Both discs have been carefully cleaned with a pro quality wash and roller.

Because of the crackles on side B run-in, I have discounted the buy now price to £20 from the usual £100 to £120 that this LP goes for in record stores - and that’s a massive markdown from £300 that I saw it on sale for this summer in an otherwise reputable store on the south coast!
