PARLOGRAM AUCTIONS presents...
THE WHO - 'MY GENERATION'
This exceptional UK 1st pressing of their debut LP is easily the best we have handled.
Despite being one of the highest regarded rock albums of all time, finding an original UK 1st pressing in anything close to this condition is incredibly tough.
This superb example has been played only 2 or 3 times and kept inside a plastic cover all its life and is certainly and would be a candidate for final upgrade status in any serious collection.
The LP dates from initial December 1965 release on the Decca-pressed Brunswick label: LAT.8616
Matrices: MG-10256-1B & MG-10257-1B
Stamper codes: 2B/N & 2,1/BI
Initials 'SM A' are stamped into the side 2 run-out.
A 'KT' purchase tax code is stamped in both run-outs.
Vinyl weight: 145g
Housed in the iconic front laminated 'Robert Stace' printed mono cover.
Complete with original poly-lined inner-sleeve.
CONDTION
Labels: MINT -
Both are clean & unworn with the only trace of use being a small handful of light spindle trails around each unworn centre hole.
Disc visual: EXCELLENT +
Both playing surfaces retain all of their just-pressed factory shine with no dull/clouded areas or groove-whitening from play on poor equipment. There are one or two very light surface scuffs on each side and a single non-sounding hairline on the last track on side 2 which are the only visual blemishes. Close examination directly beneath halogen light adds nothing more than a sparkling rainbow shine. Both sides of this well looked-after copy lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Disc audio: MINT -
Played with care just a few times on high-end equipment, the sound quality throughout is clean, clear & unworn with none of the wear usually associated with this pressing. Both run-ins and all bands run silently and there are no clicks, pops or any audible distractions anywhere on this amazing disc.
Cover: EXCELLENT +
Due to its flimsy, brittle card, this is an extremely difficult cover to find in this kind of condition. This cover has been carefully stored in a clean, non-smoking environment these last 55 years. The front panel is 'as new' with an unfaded, richy coloured front panel with a clean, unscratched laminate where the only trace of wear is a single small 'thumbnail' wrinkle next to Keith's left boot. All corners are clean & sharp and apart from a tiny bruise to the upper left, it hard to fault. The rear panel, always the weak point of this cover, is nice and clean with minimal storagewear and no writing or missing paper. It has not been bleached or 'restored' in any way. Both upper & lower seams are smooth & unstressed and the spine is unworn with both sets of wording intact and readable. Not many left like this.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
Some light storage wrinkling only.
