Description
The Who / Quadrophenia /Rare 1st Pressing / 22 page book /Vinyl; NM + Sleeve; Ex.
OK Folks, this was bought for me as a Xmas present for December 1973 by my parents, it is a very early first pressing. This can be identified by looking carefully at the matrix info. All very first pressings have a "Delta" (^) symbol on EACH matrix of ALL the four sides. I apologise for my terrible attempt to find a delta symbol on my keyboard ^, horrible isn't it ? But you get my drift- the delta sign is the upside down triangle ok !
Inside the gatefold cover is a 22 page black and white booklet with great photos showing the story. Mine is still attached but only just- so be careful it is holding on but - just ! The first issues were printed by Euro-Albums Holland B.V. and have a soft almost pastel grey finish, not black that later issues have. This one is definitely a pastel grey. On the spine of the outer cover the first issues have the group name, album name, "Track Deluxe Double" and then set number which is 2657- Sure this one does !
As stated earlier ALL 4 sides must have the upside down DELTA symbol, whereas subsequent pressings usually have 2 "slashes" - // on one or two of the matrix of the four sides. As you will soon see this one has the delta on ALL four sides. First issue early pressings have predominantly "1" and "2" matrices and "1" or low number stampers in the vinyl run off area of each side- this does ! So the vinyl is NEAR MINT, the outer sleeve is Excellent as is the inner 22 page booklet, but beware it is only just still attached by the original stapling- so be gentle. Side 1 is 2406110 A ^ 11, Side 2 is 2406110 B ^ 114 S2-MCA 362, Side 3 is 2406111 A ^ 113 (1) and Side 4 is 2406111B ^2 1111
Please note ^ = my attempt at a n upside down DELTA symbol !
You will probably know why I am trying to downsize my record collection- if not, well let's just say Parkinson's Disease struck and now we need to move to a smaller house- simple ! Therefore this is very, very rare in this condition and very collectable, hence it's price I'm afraid. A true piece of 1973 vinyl album rock history can be yours !
