Description
STAMPEDE is recorded live at The Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati on 12/3/79. A number of fans lost their lives, unfortunately crushed to death trying to get in. The Who had no clue and performed a terrific show, although this is an audience recording (not soundboard). It is a double LP on the Black Gold Concerts label. The Townsend pre-show interview on side 1 is excellent.
SOUVENIR is recorded live compilation from shows at Fillmore East NY on 4/5/68 and The Spectrum Philly on 12/4/73. It is on the Beacon Island Records label and was released in 1979. This is a double album comprised of reissues of the vinyl bootlegs Decidedly Belated Response And Live at Fillmore East. It is from the soundboard but I’d still grade the sound a B-.
THE GENIUS OF PETER TOWNSEND is a Russian release on black Vinyl (there was one in red too). These are rare studio demo songs from Who’s Next and Lifehouse. Label says 33 1/3 RPM, but if I remember correctly, it has to be played at 45 RPM. No clue what year this was released but I remember purchasing this back in 1979 or so.
