Description

An original 1st press of WN on the UK Track label from summer 1971. Matrix 1/2. Etching "MG12888". Note 1st pressings are easy to distinguish from later copies with the labels being matt and flat, NOT shiny or ridged. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original MacNeill heavy card cover with pinched spine. 
Vinyl (Ex) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there's a few light marks per side - nothing troublesome or heavy though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation. Intros and inbetweens are really nice and quiet indeed and the audio comes across with superb clarity. There's little to find fault with here... Really clean playing audio even in those slow build and fade-out sections. Expect nothing more than a few crackles in a couple of isolated spots per side. The only deviation is in the song 'Getting In Tune'. I'm detecting a couple of clicks in a couple of isolated spots. Other than this one brief issue expect a very solid rendition indeed - precisely what a serious WHO enthusiast should be insisting upon. 
Cover (Ex) This example is preserved to a high level and looks much better than many surface. The front is lovely and clean, flat, without ageing, and only a couple of minor thumbnail creases. The rear looks great with deep blacks and little sign of the dreaded ring wear that is so often exhibited. At worst one minor indentation. Edge wear is extremely limited - and on this title this is like finding a needle in a hay-stack...the openings are still sharp and the spine is unusually well preserved. The text is all perfectly legible. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity and lies totally flat. 
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. No splits.
