The magnificent Charlie Parker, original 1955 clef 646 acetate test pressing, LP 33 MG-CC 15 66
Incredibly rare, probably only one or two in existence.
This is the original Clef 646 acetate test pressing, The album features an incredible lineup, Miles Davis trumpet, Walter bishop, bass Max Roach drums, Charlie Mingus bass Red Rodney trumpet, John Lewis piano, Ray Brown bass, Kenny Clarke drums and of course the superb Charlie Parker the genius and pioneer of bebop, Miles Davis famously quoted, I can give you the history of jazz in four words, Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker
Undoubtedly the most important and influential musician of the 20th century American Jazz art form.
This is an aluminium disc coated in a nitrocellulose lacquer, it has remained in good condition and has been play tested, there is surface noise and some pops and crackles but the sound quality is very good, Parkers alto sound is very clear and strong, Charlie Parker’s performances on this album are outstanding.
I would say this acetate has to be the pinnacle for any jazz collector, a unique piece of jazz history.
There are notes written on a typewriter detailing the personnel and Composition titles, also some handwritten pencil notes showing the recording dates.
Play tested on a Linn Sondek LP12 turntable
