Description
The Prisoners v The Milkshakes Test Pressing
Catalogue Number handwritten is Shake LP
Date stamped 16th January 1986
Run-out grooves are Shake Up A1 and Shake Up A2
This is a Mayking Test Pressing which is significantly rarer than the White Label Promos. Essentially these would have been done for Management and Band approval and not the sales team.
The pressing is unique in so much as it actually differs from the actual release of "The Prisoners v Thee Milkshakes" which was eventually released on Media Burn (MB17) in 1987.
9 tracks by Thee Milkshakes including covers of "Hound Dog", "Brand New Cadillac" and "Shimmy Shimmy" on Side One and 7 tracks by the Prisoners including a cover of "96 Tears" on Side 2 recorded at a specially invited audience at Oakwood Studios, Canterbury on 23/9/84.
I can only assume that this was the label pressing that was originally planned and it eventually was released on Media Burn.
I assume that there were Media Burn Promos.
Google Shake Up and it takes you to Dirty Water Records which I can see obvious links to the likes of Billy Childish, The Dirtbombs, Thee Michelle Gun Elephant and the club night called "Dirty Water" formerly of Tuffnell Park and Dalston in that there East London.
Has to be as rare as a BC original... 'Ish ????
A whole lotta garage goin' On...
