Description

An incredible find! Original pressing of Thelonious Monk"Blue Note 5002 "Genius of modern music" from 1952. This is an original pressing.   The label is NM or better and looks perfect. (orig deep groove, flat edge, with Lexington Ave address, and EAR in dead wax)   The record is VG,I would of called it VG+ based on listening to it but it has too many scuffs and some small scratches none feelable so I call it VG .The record sounds awesome like Blue Notes do but there is surface noise when you play in the occasional pops and clicks during the quiet passages.  It plays perfect no skips and has all the most of the original gloss of a new record. The only reason I am selling this one as I have upgraded to a NM copy.   The cover has a 10 inch and 6 inch strip of scotch tape on the left and the bottom of the spine.  It has a seam split on the top left and right corners about 2 inchescorner starting.I would call the cover VG also due to the tape and seam splits. You can see  the cover in the picture. It is not that bad really and this copy has a low enough reserve to make it a steal. I can't believe how wonderful this record sounds on my ELP laser turntable. You can hear Monk in the room with you. This is not one of those recordings like on a 78 that has that consistant surface noise. This sounds like a Blue Note LP blasting thru your turntable but with pops and clicks here and there as you listen. Do you know what I mean with a Blue Note? They sound better than they look! :) This extremely rare recording would be a great addition to any jazz collection till you can afford the upgrade to a NM.I hope I described it well and I think you will be happy with it.Thanks for looking!!!!!!!!
