Impossible-to-find perfect unopened copy of this mega-rare lp, the only ever release of the excellent soundtrack to the 1950 film by Kurt Neumann about an expedition to Mars, and the first release on the record label of Starlog magazine. The Theremin, performed here by Dr. Samuel Hoffman (at times layering up to 3 via multitracking), is prominently featured, and this piece is one of the best original compositions for the unusual early electronic instrument. This album contains all segments originally recorded for the film by orchestrator and conductor Albert Glasser, including portions which were never used in the final cut such as the bonus track Theremin Solo. Other tracks are: Main Title; Countdown; Launch; Into Orbit; Floating Free; Interrupted Mission; Romance In Space (Lisa's Theme); Approaching Mars; Exploring The Red Planet; The Martian Mutants; Homeward Bound; None Came Back; End Title.

Grofe worked with Paul Whiteman orchestrating big band jazz and became famous for his arrangements of George Gershwin and his orchestral portraits of Americana. Glasser worked and associated with Dmitri Tiomkin, Johnny Green, and Rudolf Friml, and was known for his B-movie scoring for Bert I. Packing I pack professionally and with the utmost care drawn from years of experience trading vinyl internationally. I use new record mailers from Cameron Packaging (which I have determined are the best and most protective) reinforced with cardboard inserts and bubble wrap padding. All records are shipped with poly plastic sleeves and with the vinyl outside of the cover to prevent damage. All packages are completely sealed with strong packing tape covering all openings. Unless requested, no paper invoice is included in the package, both to save trees and to avoid customs difficulties. If you'd like your package done any differently, just let me know.
