Thievery Corporation, das Duo aus Washington D.C., wurde Mitte der 90er-Jahre bekannt und zählt heute zu den prägendsten Acts im Bereich elektronischer Lounge- und Chill-out-Musik. Rob Garza und Eric Hilton verbinden in ihrem Sound Elemente aus Dub, Jazz, Reggae, indischer und nahöstlicher Musik sowie brasilianischen Rhythmen. Ihr drittes Studioalbum 'The Richest Man in Babylon' erschien 2002 und kombiniert elektronische Produktionen mit Live-Instrumentierung und Gastbeiträgen von Emiliana Torrini, LouLou, Pam Bricker und Notch. Die Platte ist stark von politischen Themen geprägt und verbindet tanzbare Beats mit klangvoller Protestmusik. Jetzt ist das Kultalbum endlich wieder als 2LP erhältlich.
