Description
Third Ear Band ORIG UK LP Music from Macbeth EX ’72 Harvest SHSP4019 Prog Rock
Original UK LP released in 1972 on Harvest Records. Cat: SHSP4019/ 1E 062 ◦ 04966. Comes in lightly textured sleeve.Their score for Roman Polanski's Macbeth film required the group to work in a somewhat more constricted format. So instead of lengthy hypnotic drones, this album's split into 16 separate pieces, some of them quite short. It's consequently not as reflective of their highest ambitions as the Third Ear Band album, and loses a bit when placed out of context from the Shakespeare classic. It still works reasonably effectively on its own, conjuring appopriately ominous Elizabethean moods, with the surprise addition of (uncredited) female vocals on one track.
Tracks : Overture/ The beach/ Lady Macbeth/ Inverness: Macbeth’s return - The preperation - Fanfare - Duncan’s arrival/ The banquet/ Dagger and death/ At the well - The princes escape - Coronation - Come sealing night/ Court dance/ Fleance/ Groom’s dance/ Bear baiting/ Ambush - Banquo’s ghost/ Going to bed - Blind man’s buff - Requiescant - Sere and yellow leaf/ The cauldron/ Prophesies/ Wicca way. There are a few light spindle marks on labels. Record has a few light scuff marks and is in Excellent condition. Lightly textured sleeve has a small sticker on back top edge, a few tiny surface tears around edges, a small mark on back top edge and some pen marks next to track listing and is in VG+ condition.
