From my collection of over 60 years, this is my Artie Shaw  grouping of  thirty original 78 rpm records. These are drawn from his hot swing band of 1939-1940, and from his lush orchestra with strings, 1940-41. Included in the latter group is his small swing ensemble known as "The Gramercy Five"--Artie Shaw, clarinet; Billy Butterfield, trumpet, Johnny Guarnieri, harpischord; Al Hendrickson, guitar; Judd DeNaut, bass, and Nick Fatool, drums. (The Gramercy Five name came from Lana Turner's New York City telephone exchange). Bluebird Records: Begin The Beguine/Indian Love Call (Tony Pastor vocal); Any Old Time-- (Billie Holiday vocal)/ Back Bay Shuffle; Nightmare, (Theme) Non-Stop Flight; Between A Kiss And A Sigh/Thanks For Everything (Helen Forrest, vocal); Yesterdays/ What Is This Thing Called Love; Softly, As In A Morning Sunrise/Copenhagen; It Took A Million Years/Say It with A Kiss (Forrest); Jungle Drums/It Had To Be You; Carioca/ Bill (Forrest); My Heart Stood Still/Donkey Serenade; Lover, Come Back To Me/ Rosalie (Pastor); Zigeuner/ Suppertime (Forrest); The Man I Love (Forrest)/ Vilia; Delightful Delirium (Pastor)/I Want My Share Of Love (Forrest); A Table In a Corner/Without a Dream To My Name (Both Forrest); It's All Yours/This Is It (Both Forrest); Deep Purple (Forrest)/Pastel Blue; You're a Lucky Guy (Pastor)/Love Is Here (Forrest); Traffic Jam/Serenade To A Savage.  RCA Victor Records: Frenesi/Adios, Mariquita Linda; Gloomy Sunday/Don't Fall Asleep (Vocal by Pauline Byrne); Mr. Meadowlark (Jack Pearce, vocal)/ My Fantasy (Byrne)/ Stardust (Gorgeous trumpet solo by Billy Butterfield)/ Temptation; Dancing In The Dark; Danza Lucumi/Chantez le Bas; I Cover The Waterfront/Marinela; Moonglow; Georgia On My Mind/Why Shouldn't I? The following are by The Gramercy Five: Summit Ridge Drive/Cross Your Heart/Smoke Gets In Your Eyes/My Blue Heaven/ Special Delivery Stomp/Keepin' Myself For You. All these records are in excellent condition, in original paper sleeves. Some have my name stickers on them. I couldn't splay all these records out for a photo, so I chose his most famous for the photo. "Begin The Beguine".
