This is a copy of the very rare mono 1st pressing on Island ILP 985 of the mighty Jethro Tull’s classic 1st album with the original Island pink label and black and orange circle logo. The album is an intoxicating mix of Tull’s blue roots combined with the powerful progressive rock feel that was to develop in their music.

The line-up was Ian Anderson (vocals / flute / harmonica), Mick Abrahams ( a searing lead guitar), Clive Bunker (drums) and Glen Cornick (bass guitar) and they storm their way through

This is a powerhouse of an album full of the passion and exuberance of the time and one that any serious collector of the best sixties rock music can hardly afford to be without.

The record has hairline marks on both sides and I would therefore grade it as very good + . There is a slight discernable crackle when played but no real scratches or clicks. (My records are played using a Project Debut turntable). The cover has suffered over the years and has become creased on the front and back of the gatefold sleeve. The front cover is slightly torn on the right hand side half-way up a shown in the photo. The original cellophane is starting to come unstuck. Over time the spine has become almost flat. I have attempted to describe both record and cover accurately and, because of its rarity and quality of the music, have no hesitation in putting it up for auction with a very low starting price.

The cover and any other items are in perfect condition. EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc + or - indicates a grading in between categories
