Description
The offering here is is the extremely rare Popular Mechanics 4 track EP
from AUSTRALIA 1979
on DOUBLETHINK RECORDS,PRS-2702 DTDT4
Side A:Flamingo road,fatal slip
Side B: gee why?, nightmares
The small Australian Punk/Independent Label Doublethink was run by Roger Grierson from infamous Thought Criminals, who are legends for their Hilton Bomber and Food for thought crimes 7´´s,
two of the finest moments in Australian Punk history and high in demand for years now.
Doublethink wasn´t only responsible for the Thoughties own releases ,they also gave birth to Debut Singles from the Suicide Squad,Rejex,Barons,
just to name a few.Of course these Bands supported the Thought Criminals
at their shows too.
So the Popular Mechanics from New South Wales/Australia had their first and only Output as the Labels 4th release.
The offering here is 4 really great & melodic Punk/Post Punk charmers ,the clever combination of punky vocals with piano and Farfisa organ makes this record a really outstanding melody maker.
This is a rare example how good a Punk attitude can taste besides the r´n´r cliches, other Punk bands from that period used to follow.
I just can´t imagine why this fantastic piece of vinyl sank without a trace.
The record is nice and glossy without any sign of age, plays perfect too -
i had it maybe 3-5 times on my Turntable at all!
There´s `PRS2702 A-2 ´ and `DTDT 4A´ and `PRS 2702B-2´and`DTDT 4B
etched in the Dead Wax area.
The sleeve is in a fantastic condition too,if you didn´t knew better, you´d think,
this is a new release.
There´s also a large 34x45 cm foldout Insert with this record,black/white printed on one side, looks very fresh & untouched, too.
Sorry,i cannot give information about how many copies were pressed, but according to other releases an this Label i guess not more than 500 copies were pressed.
Although i´m into Punk/Records for almost 30 years now,i have only seen this once for sale.
So this auction might be the only chance for a long time you will see this SUPER RARITY.
***I intend to let go some old Punk 7´´s that don´t please me anymore. Some rare ones included that hit the market not too often like Vores,Out of order etc.***
