ALBUM SIGNIFICANCE
Despite recording several sessions as a leader for Blue Note between 1958 and 1961, True Blue was the only one Tina Brooks lived to see released — the rest sat in the vault for decades and only surfaced posthumously. The quintet is stacked with future legends: a young Freddie Hubbard on trumpet, Duke Jordan on piano, Sam Jones on bass (courtesy of Riverside), and Art Taylor on drums. This 1981 King Records pressing from Japan marked the album's first-ever release in stereo, mastered some twenty years after the original mono LP from a first-generation tape supplied by United Artists.
All albums are professionally cleaned and shipped with a new inner sleeve and protective outer jacket to ensure long-term preservation.
