Ah yes, this was a beloved jewel of my collection. One of my favorite albums and definitely my favorite Petty album. I bought this years ago and kept it sealed for a long time. Well, last year I decided to crack 'er open and give it a spin. Sides 1, 2, and 3 sounded like heaven. I was elated. But then as I listened to Side 4, I thought I heard something out of place. A bit of a warble. It wasn't THAT noticeable, but to my discerning ears I knew something was amiss. I know this album by heart, after all. So I stood by my turntable as it played and then I saw the problem. The grooves on Side 4 had been pressed ever so slightly off center. Well shucks! Somebody at the record pressing factory messed up. Or maybe it was a machine error. Either way, it doesn't matter now. The entire side plays with a slight speed warble, as if somebody is barely moving the speed dial back and forth.

So...

By all accounts this would have been a pristine near mint copy. The shrink is tight and intact. The cover has sharp corners. The spine is clearly legible. The inner sleeves & insert are excellent. No seam splits anywhere. And both records have high gloss with not a scratch on them.

But that darn Side 4.

So with that being said, I don't know how to grade a record like this. Just take all I've said into consideration. Normally, this record goes well past $200 here on Ebay. But with the issue I've described, I've decided I'll just start the bidding at $50 and you folks in Ebay land can decide what it's worth.

Side 4 was pressed incorrectly at the factory and doesn't play at a consistent, proper speed.
