Provenance:
I worked for this radio station, WERS, from 1996-2001 while I was attending Emerson College. They were a HUGE presence in the Boston radio scene. I was the station manager when a new studio in a different building was built in 2000. The new building had no record library to hold the enormous amount of LPs that had been accumulated in the living room of the old victorian-era brownstone at 128 Beacon Street that had been home to the station for 50 years. There was no Rock program anymore, "Niteklub", and all these records had been sitting still for 8 years by this time. So I "saved" some of the more interesting LPs for myself, and the rest of them were dispersed into the ether. . .a terrible shame....
I didn't have a record player then, so I never played them at home. They have been sitting on the shelf in my living room for 20 years, and I don't ever plan to use them at this point because I am a CD guy. On the upside, at least you know EXACTLY how mush each one has been played!!!
