Description

A truly great 1968 Screen Gems songwriter’s demo of a tune that was later recorded by both Jackie DeShannon and Billie Davis in ’68 and ’69 respectively. The song was written by Toni Wine with Carole Bayer and the vocals in the recording are unmistakably Wine’s. It’s a simple, minimally produced version in a vein that would be made commercially viable only a few years later by Carole King. The disc has some scratches, one of which causes a skip in the lead-in groove before the music starts, making it necessary to drop the needle right into the very first note to start the song. Great performance though, and plays through well enough to enjoy otherwise.
