Description
Tony Adams – ‘Take Me As I Am’ / ‘The Blues Don’t Like Nobody’ – Checker 1034 wd (US)
Two absolutely sublime sides from the obscure Tony Adams. Nothing obscure about the producer, singer and guitarist Gerald Sims, however, Chicago soul at its finest! Floyd Smith was a staff writer for Brunswick and Dakar but had a long career both before and after. He cut the innovative ‘Floyd’s Guitar Blues’ already in 1939. In 1968, he had a fine solo release in ‘Getting Nowhere Fast’ / ‘Soul Strut’ (Dakar 604). Starting with the single ‘Rainbow ’71’ for Apache, and all through the 1970s he managed and produced Loleatta Holloway (albums on Aware and Goldmine) and later married her.
Condition: VG++ with a slight warp (please listen to the clips). Clean labels with the faintest traces of wear (please see scans).
