Description

Tribe Ahl Serif: MASTER MUSICIANS OF JAJOUKA 2-LP

Visually graded (spot-checked) vinyl discs are vg++.
Surface mottling is caused by polyvinyl inner sleeves and does not affect play.
Jacket is vg+ w/slightly bent upper right corner,
small paper tear/stains on back; cornerwear, light ringwear.

The village of Jajouka is a small, high place in the western  portion of Morocco's Rif mountains.
This is the same group that was recorded earlier by Brian Jones. The Ahl Serif are essentially Moslem,
but also have another patron: "Bou Jeloud", or Pan, goat-god of the shepherds and their flocks.
Here is music from classic to traditional to counterpoint to multiple rhythms to the intense frenzy of Bou Jeloud music, the pipes of Pan.
