Description

Condition:  Used, pre-owned music album, 33rpm, LP vinyl record.
Grading:  We are not known for selling vinyl records on Ebay, we mostly have train and bus items. We may not grade on expert level like Goldmine standards and like many music stores on Ebay do.

Vinyl record: There is not actual vinyl here...only the album cover is being sold in this auction.
Album details:   Front cover is clean. Has some light brown ring wear on the bottom Back cover:  Kind of clean also, has some white spots here and there.
There are no split seams ripping open on any edges and no taped up areas and no writing on any side.
Based on that, we would say this is good condition related to the entire cover.
Please rely on the photos to determine the quality level of the album prior to any bids.

Description:  Original vinyl album release by a R&B singing group called "The True Reflection". The vinyl record is not here, we are only auctioning the album cover and the rollsign pieces. What makes this album very unique is the way a New York City subway station and subway car are used on both sides of the album.  On the front, you have the full group standing on a platform next to car #7401. Not many album covers show a car number, many times it's a photo of inside a train car. Plus here in 1973, you had early graffiti on silver and blue cars.  The silver & blue was not the original color of these cars, NY Transit started to paint all IRT division line cars from 1970 and into the whole 1970's later to a cleaner color pattern.  Seemed to make them more like new equipment in a way. The original cars for the R21/R22 cars were more dark brown/green.  This car was built in 1957/1958.
So to have that much early NY train graffiti on any 1970's album is unusual.   I wonder who had that idea at the record company to have them pose at a subway station like that? Based on the car number and the station the group is shown on the reverse side, we think this was done  on the #1 line in The Bronx. That would be at the last stop at 242st- Van Cortland Park. We have a cut section of original rollsign to add to the collection here and keep it authentic for  any Bronx historians out there.
That car #7401 was most likely on the #1 line at the time of this photo.  Those cars were moved around in the 1970's to all other numbered lines, except the #7 and not on the 3rd Ave. Elevated in The Bronx also. This is not a CD copy, only the original release album cover how it was released in 1973. If you want to the music, you have to shop elsewhere.
If you like old subway history and/or graffiti things from the 1970's, this maybe something you would like for your collection.
Artist: The True Reflection Title: Where I'm coming from Label: Atco Records- division of Atlantic records Release year:  1973
Plus you also are bidding on the two IRT rollsign strips cut from old cloth side destination rollsigns now no longer used for many years.  The car #7401 on the front of the album was used on many of the IRT numbered lines of 1 to 6 at least,  These cut up rollsigns are most likely from the 1940's. You can add some more authentic IRT related train items to your collection at the same time.
The rollsign sections you would get are for the #1 train, both stations uptown and downtown in Manhattan. The signs say:
Van Cortland Pk  ( abbreviation for Park, last stop uptown in Riverdale, The Bronx  ) South Ferry    ( last stop downtown on all #1 trains )
You are bidding on all three items together, not one at a time or any other combinations.

If you like more 1970's related subway photos like this on IRT lines and other letter lines, we suggest you check out the "Making All Stops", subway photo book series.  The webpage is the same name as the title.  It's hardcore NY train history and would be a good item for your reading collection.
