Description

This is from a top of the market collection, comprising of just early stereo rarities on Decca HMV, UK Columbia & RCA. First labels issues in Near Mint condition to 99% of them, all described in detail with plenty of pictures. Includes many items rarely seen on ebay.

1964 mono only (i.e. no stereo exists) first pressing of Two Philips Lps of Clemens Krauss in Richard Strauss, with the Bamberg SO & soprano Viorica Ursuleac. This was issued for the Strauss centenary and also to mark the tenth year of passing of Krauss. These are the great early interpretations of major Strauss landmarks. Works include Metamorphosen, 8 Lieder, Interlude from Capriccio & Rosenkavalier waltzes. No pen to the rear as shown, good seams & corners, very few spindle marks and unmarked playing surfaces Near Mint. I would imagine this is the first lp recording of these works, and the link is the relationship between composer and conductor, the firts thinking the second was his great interpreter. This historically important pair of originally separately sold lps are scarce now.

This record set is visually Near Mint, in a Near Mint sleeve, record is not warped, labels are clean.

Good selection of rarities in my list this week..
